Marrakech, Morocco- Bahia Palace

      "Bahia" means "Palace of the beautiful". The Bahia Palace was built for Ahmed Ibn Moussa between 1894 and 1900. Craftsmen from Fez were instructed to build the palace. It took the craftsmen 15 years to complete the palace. The palace was constructed as a home for Ahmed Ibn Moussa's concubines.

  • The worth of each of his concubines increased along the size of the bedrooms. 
  • The palace is surrounded by an eight hectare garden. 
  • There are 160 rooms in the palace which consists of lavishly decorated bedrooms, reception halls, and private quarters. 
  • The Bahia Palace is decorated with subtle stucco panels, zellij decorations, tiled floors, smooth arches, carved-cedar ceilings, tadlak finishes, and zouak painted ceiling.
